Terms of service

Draft. This text is a working draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet. It describes how the service works today in plain language, and it will be replaced by a reviewed version before launch.
These terms apply when you use the Passive Polyglot web app or the DuoSubs browser extension. By creating an account you agree to them.
The service
DuoSubs shows subtitles and translations on top of streaming services you already have access to, and Passive Polyglot turns the words you save into flashcards. We are not affiliated with Netflix or any other streaming service, and the service gives no access to their content.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- One person per account.
- Do not use the service to break the law or the terms of the streaming services you watch.
Free and Pro plans
- The free plan includes up to 100 saved words and no AI features.
- Pro is a subscription billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. It renews automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time from your account page. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- If prices change, we will tell you before your next renewal.
AI translations
AI and machine translations can be wrong. Use them as a learning aid, not as a certified translation.
Your content
The words, sentences and cards you save are yours. You can export them as CSV and delete them at any time.
Availability and changes
Streaming services change their players, which can break features without warning. We work to fix problems quickly but cannot promise the service will always be available. We may update these terms and will tell you about important changes.
